Description

Job Title: Systems Engineer - Electro / mechanical

Location: Scotstoun, Glasgow; we also offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements

Salary: 48,540+ depending on skills and experience

What you'll be doing:

Provide technical support to engineers and senior engineers

Review, check & sign off calculations/documents completed by Seamanship Engineers

Ownership of Seamanship Systems and compartments and oversee progressive acceptance activities

Answer technical queries about seamanship systems within their level of knowledge and competency

Support Design Intent Surveillance Reviews and certification activities

Participate fully in developing, maintaining and modifying Seamanship processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need

Your skills and experiences:

Competent Safety Practitioner

Broad knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines, standards, and codes of practice

Good understanding of maritime design, manufacturing, assembly, commissioning, integration and testing lifecycle and processes and class societies

Capable of understanding issues within a multi-disciplinary engineering teams and balancing conflicting requirements

The role holder is expected to possess a degree in Engineering (or a related subject) or have relevant experience applicable to the role. They are to be a member, or be working towards membership of an Engineering Institution (IEng, CEng, etc.)

The Type 26 Seamanship team:

The Principal Engineer will manage complex procurement packages and key seamanship compartments, reporting to the Aviation and Seamanship Engineering Manager. The role holder will ideally require knowledge and experience of naval and / or commercial ship systems with the experience to support system and spatial integration issues with other disciplines.
