New opportunities to join the Sustainable Development Team are being created to help support the council s Valuing the Environment priority and to develop new initiatives established by the Environment Act.
We seek a passionate and experienced ecological professional to join the Sustainable Development Team helping us to protect and enhance the natural environment of East Riding of Yorkshire.
You will develop and deliver corporate policy and guidance to ensure that the council remains compliant with current and emerging environmental legislation, whilst supporting the implementation of the Environment Bill within East Riding of Yorkshire.
This role will put you at the heart of a dynamic and progressive department which is critical in supporting the delivery of key council strategies, including the Climate Change Strategy and Local Nature recovery Strategy.
An essential part of the role will include providing support for communities, businesses and corporate and external partners to address key opportunities and threats related to the natural environment and biodiversity of the East Riding of Yorkshire. This will include nature recovery, natural capital and preventing the spread of invasive non-native species and managing Local Wildlife Site processes.
You should be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject and have a thorough understanding of legislation, guidance and best practice associated with biodiversity and the natural environment.
Based at County Hall, Beverley for 37 hours per week working 5 days out of 7.
You will also be required to travel to locations inside and outside of East Riding of Yorkshire on occasions.
Full-time hours are preferred however part-time hours will be considered.
