The organisation is currently looking to strengthen it's in–house legal team and have a varied and interesting role available on an 18 month contract basis which offers interesting work, flexibility and skills development and can be based anywhere in Scotland.

Your new role

Within this varied role you will assist the Corporate Solicitor to deliver legal advice with particular focus in the areas of both Contract and Commercial law: Commercial conveyancing (sale of properties and commercial leasing); Commercialisation (consultancy and corporate work), contracts and procurement including commercial contracts (subsidy control and competition) and terms and conditions including data licencing (intellectual property, liability and indemnity, data protection etc.) and general governance.

You will also be responsible for; drafting related documentation, including leases, various agreements (including grant agreements); contracts (including NEC3 and NEC 4); guarantees (relating to financial provision requirements), data licences and assignations (including intellectual property rights); indemnifications; memoranda of understanding, procurement terms and conditions, providing full written and oral advice as required, representing the organisation at external stakeholder meetings, instructing external legal agents and monitoring their work and carrying out such other tasks as may be instructed by the Corporate Solicitor.What you'll need to succeed

You will be LL.B.; Dip.L.P. or equivalent and have legal experience in relation to contract law and a basic technical/scientific understanding to appreciate the potential impact of legal advice on the organisation and to be up–to–date with legislation. It is desirable that you have knowledge of intellectual property law; data protection law; and freedom of information laws. You will also be post–qualified (with a current Law Society of Scotland practising certificate).

Due to the nature of this role, you will also have strong organisational skills, great business partnering experience and be able to handle a varied and evolving work load dealing with both internal and client–facing issues.

Although the organisation has offices across central Scotland or those seeking an office base, you could equally be based more remotely in Scotland (including the highlands and Islands) as long as you are able to reach central Scotland on a quarterly basis. The role offers great skills development and a good level of autonomy. In addition, you will receive 29 days annual leave + bank holidays, a competitive salary and a great pension at 20.5% employer contribution.
