About Me: (This is what we will post externally. The video will only be available on the Snap website) My name is Alice and I am 40 years old, single, and live in Beaconsfield in my own home. I am recovering from a significant brain injury which happened when I was knocked off my bike, in London, three and half years ago. I am recovering well and seeking to become more independent, living by myself with support. I have a great family and lots of friends, who I see plenty of, and during the week, I have a programme of therapies and activities which all help me to recover. These include Speech and Language, Physio, Occupational Therapy and Activities such as Skiing and Horse Riding. I enjoy listening to music and watching TV and have a lovely home with my own personal space. I am all good with normal daily activities including my own personal care and a daily routine involving workouts, relaxation, socialising and preparing my food and doing some household routine activities besides my therapy sessions. I use my phone to keep track of my diary and keep in touch with people every day using WhatsApp. I require someone to be in the house with me, and accompany me when I am out and about, and need some support with complicated activities such as cooking evening meals.

Overview of role: Alice does not require or want continuous input from her Support Workers so you must possess the sensitivity to know when Alice needs her privacy. During the day Alice is happy to spend time alone relaxing or doing her own activities. For this Sleeping Night role, there will be some basic light duties involved each evening, once Alice has gone to bed, such as ironing and generally ensuring the house is in a tidy condition. Alice does not need physical assistance to get herself ready for bed. She does need a responsible adult to remain in her home in case of an emergency. At around 8.30 pm Alice will go to her bedroom to watch TV before going to sleep at around 9.00 pm. Once the household tasks have been completed, you can use the support worker’s lounge which has a TV. You have use of a dedicated single support worker’s bedroom, bathroom with shower. In the morning Alice gets up and heads downstairs for breakfast which she can make herself.

Who this job would suit: This would suit someone perhaps undertaking further home-based/online study or similar activity, there is lots of quiet time once Alice goes to bed. The *female support worker will be upbeat, calm, and thoughtful.

What’s great about this job: Alice has a fantastic rehab team and excellent training is provided. Alice, who I had the pleasure in meeting, left me feeling lighter and brighter. She has an effervescence that simply shines out of her.
