We're seeking a skilled and dedicated Shift Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering & Manufacturing team in Livingston. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability of our manufacturing equipment.

Description
Conduct routine maintenance on manufacturing equipment and machinery.Diagnose and resolve faults in equipment to minimise downtime.Implement continuous improvements to enhance equipment reliability.Collaborate with the Engineering & Manufacturing team to optimise production processes.Adhere to safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe work environment.Train and mentor junior team members in maintenance procedures.Participate in project work as required by the Engineering & Manufacturing team.Report directly to the Engineering Manager on maintenance outcomes and improvements. Ensure adherence to all site Safety, Health and Environmental rules, procedures and regulations by all personnel attending the site. Comply with permit to work on site.
Carry out Electrical / Mechanical breakdown repairs.
Assist on Electrical / Mechanical Projects when required
Ensure that safe working practices are always maintained.
Cover for other shift engineers during holidays / sickness.
Cover for the Operations team during sickness including manning the automated bagging machine.
Liaise with Engineering Supervisor to agree priorities
Liaise with Shift Supervisor during silent hours to agree priorities
Actively close of work orders in Shire Systems Pirana (Computer maintenance management system)
Work with Engineer Supervisor to prioritise work orders
Participate in internal and external training
Responsible for the effective use of time and utilities to achieve Overall Equipment Effectiveness targets.
Ensure effective communication oral and written including shift handover logs/checklist and site interaction
Active participation in site inspections and safety initiatives.
Report incidents to line manager
Support the shift and prioritise tasks
Communicate effectively with the engineering department to resolve any maintenance issues and ensure
work orders are entered into the system.
Ensure holidays are covered
On call requirements may be required in the absence of any engineers on shift
Ensure main safety hazards on site are known and protections in place to mitigate against these.
Profile
A successful Shift Maintenance Engineer should have:
Experience of Scada Control Processes – preferable.
CompEx 1–4 or experience working in an ATEX rated environment – preferable
Timeserved electrician/mechanical fitter. – Essential
3–5 years' experience in a chemical/process environment. – preferable
Educated to HNC level, or equivalent, in a relative discipline or 3 years' practical experience in chemical
manufacturing. – preferable
Knowledge of Permit to Work Systems (Hot Work/Vessel Entry). – preferable
Flexible / can–do working approach. – essential
Good communication skills at all levels.– essential
Ability to work under pressure, make clear decisions and meet targets.– essential
Knowledge and experience in industrial maintenance techniques.Ability to diagnose and resolve faults in manufacturing equipment.Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.Commitment to adherence to safety regulations and maintenance of a clean work environment. A competitive salary in the range of GBP39,000 + 30% Shift Allowance across all shifts.
