Assistant Solicitor for Sheku Bayoh Inquiry
The Scottish Inquiry is currently seeking an experienced Assistant Solicitor to join the legal team for the Sheku Bayoh Inquiry. As an Assistant Solicitor, you will work closely with the Counsel team and the Chair to support the inquiry process. This is a technical role that requires excellent analytic skills and experience working with a high volume of legal documentation.
Responsibilities:
Analyse a high volume of legal documentation assessing for relevancy to the Inquiry terms of referenceTake witness statements for future hearingsWork on the redaction and disclosure of the relevant documentationPrepare advice and submissions to the Chair
Requirements:
Experience working at a Public InquiryExperience taking in-person witness statements and drafting statementsExperience drafting rule 8 requests under the Inquiries (Scotland) RulesExperience with redactionExcellent communication skillsExperience working with high volumes of evidence and providing detailed legal analysis of that materialThe successful candidate for this role will have a law degree and be a qualified solicitor with a current practising certificate.
