We are a small, ethical business based near Edinburgh, we make beautiful baby carriers and accessories from our specially woven jacquard fabrics. Currently, we are looking for a skilled industrial sewing machinist to join the team and help craft these high-quality items.
All of our fabrics are woven in the UK and made from natural and organic yarns, we are proud to keep production in Scotland. We are a zero-waste company and use solar panels for our energy. The Job
You should be competent in using industrial machines and work at a fast pace with excellent accuracy.
The Sewing Machinist will be involved in manufacturing baby wraps, ring slings and other jacquard woven fabric products. You will assist with quality control tasks, including checking, fixing and packaging, and any other duties to ensure a smooth manufacturing process resulting in exceptionally high quality products.
Main Duties
Sewing a range of products including wraps, baby ring slings, carriers, throws, bags and scarves
Meet the minimum standards required regarding quality and pace within the probation period
Operate a variety of different industrial sewing machines
Operate machinery required for cutting and pressing fabric
Ensure patterns are matched correctly and product specifications followed accurately
Work to timescales to achieve production targets, individually, and as part of the team
Clean and maintain assigned sewing machine regularly, ensuring that your own working area is kept tidy and organised
Assist in the maintenance of a safe working environment through the strict adherence to company health and safety rules and procedures. Reporting any quality or other issues immediately to the Head Machinist
Ensuring all aspects of health and safety protocol are followed, ensuring safe and efficient operation of machinery
Complete quality control work - checking, bagging, and packaging products (training will be provided)
Plus any extra tasks as required
Required Skills & Abilities
Solid experience as a Sewing Machinist
Able to use industrial sewing machines and pressing equipment
Can meet production targets whilst working accurately in a fast paced environment
Able to understand and read patterns and product specifications
Basic levels of numeracy and literacy
Good verbal communication
A flexible attitude and ability to multitask - able to demonstrate initiative with a proactive approach to problem solving
Excellent timekeeping and attendance record
Ability to work independently and within a team
This job requires some lifting of boxes and other heavy objects. Training in manual handling will be provided.

Job Types: Preference for Full-time, will consider part-time part-time, we are open to flexible working.
Salary range: £21255 - £22,600. Pay negotiable according to experience
Expected hours: 25 – 37.5 per week Full time preferred
