We are recruiting for a hands on, innovative, trend led True Knitwear Designer with good technical knowledge of knit and yarns to join a global, rapidly growing apparel business with access to onsite sampling.
Experience creating and developing commercial knitwear ranges for the UK /European retailers is essential. This opportunity will offer regular travel from Dhaka to the UK to meet customers and local team, and international travel to visit fairs, trade shows, comp shop and other customers.
Senior True Knitwear Designer The Job Outline
Conduct market research (to identify trends and innovation, develop aspirational apparel designs and articulate the vision for the upcoming season s in alignment with each brand s (customer & own collection) aesthetic direction. Introduce new initiatives, sustainability factors and innovative ways to update key item programs based on information and inspiration from trade shows, online research, meeting with vendors, conducting competitive and aspirational shopping. Send regular trend packages to respective clients with new product information, yarns, and trends. Communicate with customers directly and take the ownership in dealings on product and design direction they are moving towards and plan visits as and when required. Source suppliers (both local and overseas) for new yarns within feasible quality and pricing. Conduct visits to factories to understand product/process mechanism, possibilities, and trends. Check production feasibility with technical team, define construction parameters etc. Approve yarns, print, embroidery, wash, etc. to create products within price range. Ensure the development of techpacks with all included specifications to aid sampling. Maintain calendar for all new development sample requests received from customer and analyze the yarn, knitting parameters, trims requirement, washing detail and ensure samples are made right the first time. Guide the development process to ensure consistent quality product by overseeing every aspect and detail on each style produced. Work closely with the sample room and oversee the sampling process and identify possible problems or issues and help to resolve them. Ensure all customer requirements are met on new developments as per techpacks and flag any risks to the buyers in advance. Work closely with technical team to resolve fit, pattern, and grading issues with vendors prior to issuing bulk production approval. Facilitate the handover and costing process from sample to bulk. Analyze past year sales in products, customer feedback, design hit rate to define future product strategy for the business unit.
Senior True Knitwear Designer The Person Specification
Solid true knitwear design experience at senior level (womens and menswear). Creating commercial ranges for the UK/European retailer is essential. Ideal candidate will have a design related Degree. A real eye for fashion and translating trends. Ability to work closely with buyers and present your idea s. Good technical knowledge of knit construction, patterns and yarns. Highly organised, efficient and effective at managing priorities and own workload. A confident communicator, someone who builds relationships at all levels, and with multinational stakeholders. Proficient on Photoshop and Illustrator. Able to travel regularly to the UK and internationally.
