Senior Relationship Manager – Commercial Banking

Role Purpose:
The Senior Relationship Manager is part of a fast–growing business and a frontrunner in sustainable banking, responsible for delivering growth in the provision of commercial banking lending products, through the development of new and existing customer relationships. Key sectors include housing associations and large healthcare providers.
Working as part of the Bank's UK Commercial Banking team, this role involves communicating with existing business customers and prospective customers, as well as generating new lending enquiries to build on the existing portfolio. You will undertake the more complex and higher risk credit proposals (typically up to GBP20 million) and the subsequent management and monitoring of a portfolio of borrowers. You will deliver sales of banking products and promote the Bank's services to organisations across a variety of business sectors, with a key aim of facilitating positive change within society.
You will support the Team Manager in developing markets for their lending and banking services, and also in deputising for them from time to time. You must have the ability to be an active participant of the UK credit committee.
Required Skills and Experience:
Considerable experience in UK commercial lending and demonstrable success in building and managing a portfolio of customer relationships, as well as building relationships with potential new customers.Experience of winning, structuring and delivering new lending up to GBP20m, with a high level of complexity, risk and exposure.Advanced credit skills and regarded as subject matter expert, with the ability to deal with complex credit proposals, including groups, property development and unusual structures.Proven ability to independently manage a busy and varied workflow, including the ability to progress complex lending proposals accurately and at pace.Strong understanding of the end to end lending process, preferably including LMA loan documentation and complex due diligence arrangements, and ability to manage external counsel.Able to build a robust pipeline of new business opportunities and have a growing network of external introducers.Excellent risk management skills, including KYC & fraud, CDD & vulnerable customers.Advanced numerical and analysis skills and the ability to interpret financial accounts, forecasts and business plans.Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel & Powerpoint.Ability to represent the Bank at key internal and external events and speaking engagements.Relevant professional qualification is desirable, for example Chartered Institute of Banking or equivalent. Responsibilities:
Generate a pipeline of new business opportunities and lending enquiries, delivering against lending objectives.Present credit assessments to Bank's UK Credit Committee and contribute to the Committee's decision–making process.Actively develop new business in your sector and region and promote the Bank's lending & banking services and campaigns and events utilising all resources available within an agreed budget.Manage and develop a portfolio of existing business customers (typically large borrowers, up to GBP20m, including strategically important customers) with the aim of delivering a professional and responsive service.Formulate and implement a strategy for development of income from your business sector and region and assist with the strategy for the wider Business Banking team.Establish and proactively maintain an effective network of key business introducers in the professional business community and use sector expertise to develop and enhance relationships with borrowers and networks.Be viewed, both internally and externally, as a subject matter expert in a particular sector and support the wider team in further sector development for the Bank.Identification of business opportunities for existing borrowers, including introductions to other RMs/teamsWork with other RMs and teams to share knowledge, work on joint opportunities and to offer and receive support.Champion continuous improvement and help to identify and implement process changes to support the Commercial Banking team and wider Bank.Take responsibility for own personal development and be open to receiving and delivering feedback using the FLOW model.Effective workflow management to allow timely completion or pay–out of credit agreed facilities, including providing prompt and complete responses to information and documentation requests required by Technical & Securities Team or the Bank's advisers.Act as a mentor/coach in providing guidance and support to less experienced RMs, through sharing knowledge, experience and behaviour role modelling.Support and deputise for Regional Team Manager from time to time.Seek to work with teams and co–workers outside of Commercial Banking, both in the UK and internationally.Attend and represent the Bank at internal and external events, including involvement in the organisation and delivery of such events.Comply with all regulatory obligations and internal governance to help ensure ethical behaviour which delivers fair outcomes for customers.
