Description

Service Care Solutions are looking for a Senior Policy Officer to work within the London Fire Brigade on a 3-month contract.

Location: Southwark

Job roles/responsibilities:

The role involves safeguarding London's cultural assets, aligning with the mayor's priorities. The Culture at Risk Office protects grassroots and global cultural structures. Since 2016, we've supported creative businesses, cultural entities, and communities to preserve at-risk spaces. In response to Covid-19 and risks to underrepresented community infrastructure, we expanded to protect endangered cultural spaces.

Gather and analyse live data to support policy interventions, equitable funding, and Good Growth spatial policy, collaborating with internal teams.Take on casework to protect cultural and community assets through lobbying, negotiation, advocacy, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement.Evaluate program outputs, enhance program design efficiency, and develop new intelligence gathering methods and engagement strategies.Provide strategic guidance to at-risk organisations, offering advice on business planning, sustainability, governance, and fundraising, collaborating across relevant GLA teams.Ensure alignment and connectivity between Culture and Community Spaces at Risk initiatives and broader Cultural Infrastructure work, advising on concerns, opportunities, and identifying gaps.Support the expansion of cultural infrastructure mapping, deepen relationships with partners and grassroots organisations, and develop a communication strategy for the Culture and Community Spaces at Risk program.Undertake research, consolidate evidence, and provide data for reports and briefings to the mayor's office, GLA staff, government departments, and relevant organisations, staying updated on policy changes within the Culture and Creative Industries.Knowledge/Experience required:

Knowledge and experience of culture and the creative industries, civil society and community organisations, and the threats facing London's cultural and community spaces - from the impacts of COVID-19 to development to licensing and commercial pressures.Experience working on and supporting projects in a complex political environment, including working closely with public figures or senior management.Experience of commissioning and undertaking research, preparing and presenting clear and concise reports and recommendations.Behavioural Competencies:
