Our client, an international bank based in London is looking for a Senior Manager of their Trade Finance Quality Control team.
The role requires a quality control specialist and expert in trade-based compliance and anti-financial crime risk with excellent trade finance product knowledge.
The purpose of the role is to
Ensure the Bank s standards are maintained. Continuously improve the processes and procedures ensuring the procedure manuals are aligned with the relevant Bank policies. Protect the Bank from Money Laundering, Financial Crime and Terrorist Financing by following robust procedures. Manage and develop the skills of the Trade Finance Quality Control Function. Identify learning and development needs and providing the training identified. Ensure a sustainable control environment in Trade Finance Quality Control function with well-defined end to end processes. Ensure robust processes and controls (automated/ manual) are in place to comply with the applicable rules and regulations. Assist in providing professional direction/advice on all trade finance related matters.
Key Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Deliverables
Manage the department s Quality Control team. Ensure consistency of application of the department s screening standards against existing financial crime controls and against regulatory benchmarks. Ensure transactions adhere to internal policies and checklists. Provide guidance to the team on proper screening of all trade transactions, adherence to financial crime risk controls. Work closely with the Head of TFO to ensure the systems and processes are in line with the regulatory expectations. Flag any financial crime trends/concerns or control weaknesses identified to the relevant stakeholders. Keep abreast of knowledge relating to the UK and global financial crime regulatory framework (JMLSG Guidance, FCA Thematic Review TR13, Wolfsberg Principles
Qualifications/Experience required.
10 years experience working in trade-based Compliance function and International Trade Finance. A degree in Banking or relevant industry experience (industry qualification desirable) Knowledge of using Sanction, PEP and adverse media screening tools/software Knowledge of using trade finance processing systems desirable Knowledge of the UK and global financial crime regulatory framework (JMLSG Guidance, FCA Thematic Review TR13, Wolfsberg Principles, etc). Thorough understanding of FCA requirements relating to Financial Crime in Trade Finance. Clear understanding of trade-based money laundering and red flag activities to escalate when necessary. Extensive understanding of Trade Finance products. Clear understanding of Operational Risk.
