Your role at BRE
Working with relevant Core Science Teams, you will provide technical input that will feed into the future development and operation of the BREEAM Ecosystem. You will do this by helping to ensure an appropriate level of scientific rigour, and underpinning evidence and will also contribute to the energy and carbon science base within BREEAM. This scientific rigor will be balanced by commercial and technical relevance by working with the product teams.

As a Senior Energy Consultant, you will work with the team to:
Drive and support the development and realisation of science-led solutions to ensure that the BREEAM portfolio of standards are technically credible and deliver BRE s strategic objectives.
Maintain a good practical knowledge of carbon and energy use in the built environment and current industry developments in measuring and benchmarking Net Zero Carbon.
Participate fully in the Resources/Carbon Core Science Team, including technical working groups, research, literature reviews, steering BREEAM local science, and content creation. Collaborating with colleagues across the BRE Group and external stakeholders to provide insights and outputs.
Deliver on the direction of BRE s product offering, including BREEAM, Home Quality Mark and Net Zero Carbon.
Your profile
You will need to have:
Technical knowledge and expertise in building energy modelling and carbon management
Collaborative approach to building, managing and sustaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to manage the delivery of a wide range of documents such as policy, thought leadership proposals, narratives, reports ad strategy documents.
Ideally an undergraduate degree in a related environmental or science discipline.
Desire to drive cultural change and awareness.
Self-motivated and proactive approach
Organised and able to multi-task
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Detail-orientated
Desirable but not essential:
Passionate about sustainability in the built environment
Knowledge of BREEAM or other sustainability methodologies, or energy assessment initiatives
Understanding and appreciation of key indices and standards relating to carbon measurement.
Membership of appropriate professional organisations
Demonstrated continued professional development
Previously held energy and carbon consultancy position
