We are seeking a seasoned and forward-thinking Senior Ecologist with expertise in Biodiversity Net Gain to play a pivotal role in a team of award winning Landscape Architects, Urban Designers, and Community Enablers.
A successful candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge in ecological conservation, habitat restoration, and sustainable practices. Additionally, they will lead ecological initiatives, working closely with the Managing Director to expand and enhance focus on Biodiversity Net Gain, contributing to the sustainable growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Biodiversity Net Gain Leadership:
Spearhead the integration of Biodiversity Net Gain principles into projects, ensuring positive ecological outcomes.
Develop and implement innovative strategies to achieve and exceed biodiversity targets set by clients and regulatory bodies.
Lead the assessment and monitoring of biodiversity gains across projects.
Business Development:
Work directly with the Managing Director to identify and pursue business opportunities in the Biodiversity Net Gain sector.
Collaborate in business development to create compelling proposals and secure new projects.
Build and maintain strong client relationships by showcasing the benefits and value of Ecology and Biodiversity Net Gain.
Collaboration and Team Leadership:
Collaborate closely with Landscape Architects, Urban Designers, and Community Enablers to embed Biodiversity Net Gain into the design and planning process.
Provide leadership and mentorship to junior ecologists, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
Regulatory Compliance and Advocacy:
Stay abreast of evolving environmental regulations related to Biodiversity Net Gain and ensure projects comply with the latest standards.
Advocate for sustainable and ecologically responsible practices in the industry through active participation in relevant forums and committees.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Establish robust monitoring and reporting mechanisms to track the success of Biodiversity Net Gain initiatives.
Prepare comprehensive reports for clients, regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience:
Advanced degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Sustainability or a related field.
Proven track record in leading Biodiversity Net Gain initiatives within the built environment sector.
Strong understanding of local flora and fauna and the ability to apply this knowledge to achieve tangible biodiversity gains.
Demonstrated success in business development, client engagement, and project management.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex ecological concepts to diverse audiences.
Associate or Full members of the CIEEM.
Previous experience working directly with senior management.
