Our Utilities sector client is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join their Birmingham based team.
Our client is a relatively new, independent utilities infrastructure business, formed from the utilities division of a leading infrastructure services company. They design, build, and maintain the UK's utilities infrastructure to help transform local communities for the better.
Current clients include: Severn Trent, United Utilities, Yorkshire Water, Scottish Water, Northern Powergrid and Scottish Power.
Working on a Hybrid basis this is a great opportunity for a candidate to make their mark and build a brand new team around them.
Responsibilities
Advise on potential ecological constraints during all aspects of projects across Water/UtilitiesProvide guidance on best methods and practice to meet technical and projectAttend site walkovers to inform design and future ecological deliverables required.Keep up to date with industry best practice and, when necessary, brief juniorecological staff.Input into desktop environmental assessments of proposed works.Complete ecological surveys to inform required mitigation.Source and coordinate outsourced ecological deliverables with vendors as need.Provide advice and guidance on addressing ecological constraints present.Input into fee development and bidding from an ecological perspective.Liaise with clients on ecological technical matters.Aid and support the development of junior ecologists.
Skills/Experience/Qualifications
An ecological or environmental degree ideallyMembership of a relevant professional bodyClean driving licencePragmatic approachStrong coordination skillsSound knowledge of processes and technical standards within ecologyComputer literateKnowledge of H&S legislation and regulationsEcological knowledge and experienceKnowledge of utilities-based workHold species licence/s, in particular a licence for great crested newt would be beneficialExperience working in a multi-disciplinary environment
