Title: Senior Ecologist
Location: Exeter
Salary: 30,000 - 40,000
My client currently sits as one of the country's leading integrated design practices working extensively across the UK. They have developed their business to focus on multi-disciplinary expertise in environmental, assessment, urban design, landscape, ecology, architecture, arboriculture, and green infrastructure.
They're looking to bring in a Senior Ecologist to sit within their Exeter office to assist in offering technical advice to a diverse range of clients covering projects across all aspects of ecological consulting.
Qualifications
Possess a bachelor's degree or an equivalent academic certificate in ecology or a related discipline.Full membership in the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or a similar organisation.
Experience & Skillset
A minimum of three years of project management experience is required, as well as outstanding client engagement abilities.Good understanding of best practice survey procedures, wildlife legislation, and protected species licencing.Advanced understanding of ecology and animal conservation in the context of the UK planning system.Extensive experience advising customers on Biodiversity Net Gain, including the creation of Biodiversity Impact Assessments (BIA) and the application of the DEFRA measure.Experience authoring complicated reports, including but not limited to preliminary ecological appraisal (PEA) reports, ecological impact assessments (EcIA), habitat regulations assessment (HRA) documents, and species and habitat management plans.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate a deep understanding of ecological principles and possess expertise in conducting ecological surveys, impact assessments, and habitat restoration.Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including planners, engineers, and landscape architects, to integrate ecological considerations into a variety of projects.Engage with clients to understand their ecological requirements, provide expert advice, and foster strong client relationships.Stay informed of relevant environmental legislation and regulations, ensuring all projects adhere to legal requirements.Participate in field surveys, habitat assessments, and data collection. and interpret data to inform project recommendations.Prepare comprehensive ecological reports and impact assessments for a diverse range of projects.
