We at Work Lyf Group are recruiting for a Senior Chemist Transfer Lead for our well established client working within the waste sector.
Role:
You will be responsible for the acceptance, non-conformance, recording, labelling and processing of incoming waste. Listing, preparing and booking out of loads. Invoicing of waste. Training staff. Managing KPI's. Managing a small team of site chemist's. Ensuing all paperwork is kept up to date regarding waste routes. A key aspect of the role includes liaising with other departments for key information. Dealing with returns to customers and communicating with our sales and technical department on a daily basis.
- Ensure waste is being appropriately stored in line with Sector Guidance Note 5.06, the sites Environmental Permit and to HSG51 The Storage of Flammable Liquids in Containers, HSG 71 Chemical Warehousing: The Storage of Packaged Dangerous Substances.
- Physical count of all stored pallets of waste on site every Monday morning to work to a KPI of - Sampling of accepted waste to supply to internal laboratory for further analysis or to pass on to suppliers to confirm suitability for acceptance.
- Liaise with suppliers to attempt to get the best disposal rate where possible for outgoing loads to maximise profitability.
- Gross Margin Analysis to be completed for every outgoing load to suppliers to work out the revenue we have received for each disposal line and cost provided by supplier.
- Provide a feedback loop to the Technical Department if any waste is problematic to dispose of and if there are any potential commercial implications if waste has not been priced correctly for disposal.
- Liaising with Logistics Team confirming transport disposal dates/cancelation of outgoing loads, to help maximise utilisation of the transport fleet.
- Ensure accompanying paperwork for any dispatches of Hazardous/Non-Hazardous Waste are completed correctly
- Ensure outgoing loads dispatched from site are safe for transport and comply with ADR.
- Promote a positive Health and Safety driven environment reporting near misses on Activ at a KPI of 1 per week and rectifying any potential concerns for Health and Safety readily.

Key Duties:
Experience in the Hazardous Waste Sector for at least 12 months.
Knowledge of Hazardous Waste Regulations including: Sector Guidance 5.06, Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005, Environmental Protection Act 1990, Environmental Permitting Regulations 2018.
Experienced in working in a Health and Safety driven business, with knowledge of the Health & Work Act 1974, The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
Experience to working to HSG51 The Storage of Flammable Liquids in Containers, HSG 71 Chemical Warehousing: The Storage of Packaged Dangerous Substances.
Experienced in working in a small team.
Computer literate especially in using Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Essential skills and qualifications:
HNC or Degree Level Qualification in Chemistry or a similar related field. Experience in working in the Waste Sector (advantageous) but not compulsory) FLT licence is essential. Computer literate especially in using Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Must demonstrate willingness to work in outdoor conditions in a hazardous chemical environment undertaking a manual/hand on approach. SAP knowledge/experience would be ideal but no compulsory.
