Role Overview: Carbon Solutions Engineer

We are seeking a talented Carbon Solutions Engineer to join our team in London or Gateshead. This is a permanent full-time position, offering a competitive salary and benefits package.

Role Purpose:

As a Carbon and Solutions Design Engineer, you will leverage your expertise in designing projects related to air source and ground source heat pump installations. From concept development to retrofitting, you will play a key role in delivering sustainable solutions for both domestic and commercial settings.

Role Responsibilities:

Design projects from concept to retrofitting, covering both electric and heating/mechanical aspects of installations.

Take ownership of detailed technical solutions, ensuring a right-first approach.

Manage the entire design lifecycle, from working with consultants to specification and sign-off of each installation.

Conduct site visits and surveys for potential installations.

Familiarity with a range of technology manufacturers.

Design and sign off on sustainable measures and installations, including full heat loss calculations.

Produce tender, pricing, and design packages, identifying key design and project dependencies.

Support operational teams and evaluate sub-contractor and supplier offerings.

Work independently and collaboratively, reporting to the Senior Carbon Solutions Engineer.

Represent the company at meetings, providing technical guidance in a comprehensible manner.

Assist in commissioning and optimising the efficiency of new and existing heating schemes.

Communicate and present design proposals to clients, ensuring their requirements are met.

Accept delegated tasks and responsibilities to support departmental operations.

Lead, monitor, and set tasks and objectives for design colleagues to ensure timely and efficient delivery of design proposals.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

Electrical or mechanical engineering degree or significant heating design and installation experience.

5+ years in the design, installation, and specification of ASHP and GSHP in domestic and commercial settings.

Knowledge of the low carbon economy, with experience in energy audits, building energy performance, renewable generation, or alternative fuels.

Engineering degree in mechanical, building services, or renewable energy disciplines.

Experience in consulting or advisory roles with asset owners, utilities, or government.

Strong technical knowledge, team leadership, communication, and project management skills.
