A global high–tech manufacturer require a Senior Buyer. Applicants need strategic procurement capability within a manufacturing or engineering business. The ability to negotiate LTA/Contracts and an end–to–end supply chain appreciation, will be required.
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for procuring both direct and indirect materials/services for the Southampton facility, collaborating with Group Commodity Managers to achieve local procurement objectives. While predominately strategic in outlook, the role will entail smaller operational tasks. The Senior Buyer will join an established and successful procurement team.
Specific duties of the Senior Buyer include:
Supply market intelligence activitiesNegotiation and establishment of contracts and long term agreements with UK and international suppliersSupport cost reduction and cost avoidance targetsMitigation of supply chain riskCollaborating with engineering in regards to supplier quality and design changesSupport NPI activitiesSupport the development and execution of category management strategiesUse of MRP to place purchase orders and effectively manage inventory levels Senior Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:
Procurement experience within a technical manufacturing or engineering environmentCapable of strategically contributing to the business – negotiations, SRM, category strategies etc.Familiar with technical or engineering stakeholders for NPI, ECN, supplier non–conformance etcAn appreciation of the end–to–end supply chain including; inventory management, MRP and S&OPConsidered, analytical and forward–thinking
