About the Role

Work closely with the Operations Manager to help protect and manage both the client and Securitas requirements & expectations.To actively manage the security department which consists of control room supervisors, controllers, security officers, response officers and IMR staff. To ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with procedures and policies and to take responsibility for the professional conduct & development of the entire team.To always ensure compliance with legal and contractual obligations, such as GDPR, Health and Safety and in accordance with the National Gallery own policies and procedures.To act as a key security contact for all daily operational security matters, effectively liaising with other departments, services within the gallery to ensure effective communication of all matters pertaining to security and delivery of the professional security service, escalating issues appropriately.To work in partnership with the contractual representatives and service partners to ensure all aspects of site Security and Fire Prevention are effectively managed.To manage the deployment of the security team by way of monitoring of rosters, completion of duty time sheets, forward planning and co-ordination, allocation, and supervision to maintain staffing levels to core duties, event, and other ad hoc requirements, and ensure cover for holidays and other absence.To ensure that the posts and patrols are appropriately staffed and that there is appropriate rotation of duties for the team with respect to tasks and breaks and ensure that regular security post visits are conducted across the team.To proactively manage public access into and throughout the building, controlling the entrances in line with the overall capacity of the total venue and individual rooms/ spaces in line with fire regulations for the site.To ensure that the security team are briefed on relevant security matters or any changes in procedures that have been made or are due to be implemented.To routinely monitor and oversee the entire team's activity and liaise directly with the control room supervisor to ensure the control room is operating correctly and that all technology is fully operable. Whilst any initial incident management/response will be undertaken by the control room supervisor, the security duty manager has overall responsibility and will manage and direct the security response at time of a critical incident at the Gallery. e.g., evacuation or fire alarms in public and 'back of house' areas and provide effective support to any implementation of Incident Management Plan (IMP)and undertake incident management responsibilities as necessary e.g., conducting dynamic risk assessments, liaison with emergency services.Ensure the Health & Safety policies and procedures (including Risk Assessments) are complied with and ensure that all security personnel are fully informed in relation to both the H&S requirement and risk documentation.To raise the profile of the security department ensuring that customers are always well informed of any operational issues, procedures, and processes.To undertake any other operational tasks as identified that support safety and security in line with National Gallery and Securitas's aims and objectives.Manage the performance of the team including carrying out team meetings, individual counselling meetings, conducting investigations, when necessary and reporting on performance matters that require escalation.To identify and develop processes for improvement to the operational security delivery at the site.To contribute to writing, reviewing, and revising of SOPs, Instructions and Risk assessments.To ensure new starters to the team have received a complete induction and develop and manage probationer and annual training programmes for all employees, conduct performance monitoring including scenario testing.To conduct and positively participate in delivery of the annual appraisals of the team.To positively participate in the staff welfare & development and carry out regular reviews of individual/ team welfare matters so that expectations are being managed and addressed. Escalating any welfare concerns to the Contract Manager or Operations Manager so that additional support can be gained from the Support Managers as and when required.To monitor completion of monthly security management information that will be used to report on the department / team's performance.To carry out routine engagement with Key Stakeholders across the Gallery.Undertake any other tasks as identified by the Operations Manager as being for the good and benefit of the service to the customer and deemed to be appropriate or necessary to the post.Essential Skills
