We have ambitious improvement and transformation plans to create the optimum conditions within which our staff can make a real difference and improve outcomes for children. The investment we've committed into our in-house residential strategy is no exception.
If you would like to join an authority that commits to and prioritises an integrated approach with our statutory partners and focuses holistically on what needs to change in order to achieve timely permanence, then consider a role with GCC.
About Us
We are planning to open several children's homes in the county catering for younger children who need a short period in group care, with a view to supporting them to move on. In addition, we recognise some young people need longer term residential care, so consequently, as part of our Sufficiency Strategy, we also aim to provide this provision locally, with move-on Staying Close facilities integral to the offer.
All our children's homes will offer a service to those children and young people for whom residential care is a placement of choice and assessed as most appropriate to their needs.
About you
If you are passionate about delivering stable homes built on love, and care deeply about supporting our most vulnerable children and young people, then you'll be interested in helping move our residential strategy forward from concept to delivery. Initially, you will shape the development of our first short-term children's home, through registration with Ofsted and mobilisation, by managing it on a day-to-day basis.
If you are an experienced Registered Manager and committed to improving outcomes for children and young people in care, Gloucestershire would like to hear from you. We're particularly interested in hearing from professional managers with leadership skills, backed up by demonstrable outcomes regarding the children's homes you've been leading over the last 2+ years. As we progress our plans to increase residential provision and reduce reliance on out-of-area placements, there is the potential for the post holder to become our Responsible Individual and take a leading role in developing Gloucestershire's residential strategy. We are therefore seeking applicants with that ambition.
As well as your experience managing children's homes, there are some things we require of you to be successfully appointed to this post:
A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Care or an equivalent qualification (or nearing completion). Evidence of continued professional development. A full driving licence and willingness to drive DBS clearance How to apply
