One of the biggest and most exciting developments in Union Chapel's history is the transformation of our Sunday School Hall and you can be a part of this adventure, whether as a volunteer to help discover and revive lost artefacts of our archives, taking part in a tour or community-based workshop or skill-building event, or creating new memories together for a brighter tomorrow as our space is returned to the community for everyone to enjoy:
New improved accessibility
Pre-gig heritage tours
Heritage building training including work with lime mortar mixing, stone masonry, carpentry, repairs and maintenance for skills you can use in employment and at home
Your Story Festival of Change made with and by for our communities including inspirational speech karaoke, digital memory bank, performance poetry, heritage food events, debates, and social leadership workshops
Immersive musical adventures for families
And more. It all starts this January with our first activity:
REBUILDING A VICTORIAN STAGE
Share your skills and kick start a new year resolution of skill-building, giving back, or meeting like-minded people.
Union Chapel has what we think is a dismantled Victorian stage, contemporary to the 1877 chapel and currently stored in one of the booths of the Sunday School Hall.
We're recruiting volunteers to help us rebuild, document, and organise in the first of the Heritage Workshop Series of our Sunday School Stories Programme, with lunch provided plus a certificate of participation issued.
In order to keep records from our experience, we are looking for enthusiastic photographers and people with audiovisual interests/expertise. It doesn't matter which format, your creative skills on digital/image content creation will be vital to support our workshop in keeping our memories alive.
Job Responsibilities
In order to keep records from our experience, we are looking for enthusiastic people to collaborate with their drawing and painting skills. We'd love to share your artistic creations inspired in the present moment while our team and community bring back to life our Victorian Stage at the heart of our historic Union Chapel building.
