DESCRIPTION
Dr. Freakenstein’s Dwarf from Rainger FX is the world’s first boutique mini-pedal and it serves up all the integrity and ingenuity Rainger is well-known for. At heart, it is a simple fuzz/distortion but its heart has been severely mutated in the best of ways, making it an unconventional design to say the least. Without the additional Igor foot controller plugged in, DFD boasts very simple controls, namely a volume wheel and a single tone knob that controls the harmonic overtone pitch. Once Igor (the pressure-operated foot control) is plugged in however, Igor controls the tone and the original tone knob adjusts the effect’s overall range. On top of that, the pedal comes with two front-mounted pushbutton switches – one that controls the intensity of the overtone and one that controls the function of the Igor controller. In standard mode, it controls the pitch but in the new mode, it fully ranges from a hi-pass filter into a full-on bit crusher, providing an absolute ton of tones and control in a pint-sized package.
