Job Description - The Role

AMS is the world's leading provider of Talent Acquisition and Management Services. Our contingent Workforce Solutions (CWS) service acts as an extension of our clients' recruitment team and provides professional interim and temporary resources. We partner with Arup to support contingent recruitment processes. On behalf of Arup, we are looking for an Qualified Accountant for a 6-month contract based in Newcastle - hybrid working model 2-3 days per week on site.

About the Opportunity:

As an Qualified Accountant, you will oversee a team of circa 11 people, responsible for managing and reconciling Balance Sheet accounts including bank accounts, staff loan accounts, fees ledger accounts and payroll related accounts.

The team's remit is wide ranging across all of Arup's regions in particular: UKIMEA, Americas, Australasia, Europe, and some work in East Asia.

In this role you will:

Set strategic direction of the team, aligning to the objectives of the department and providing leadership of the end-to-end operations of the bookkeeping team.Review and scoring of balance sheet reconciliations as part of our BSR process - monitoring KPI performance.Lead on compliance within operations through the monitoring of the control's environment within the end-to-end processes, monitoring risks and implementing additional controls.Drive continuous improvement across the bookkeeping team, using standardisation, RPA and process review.Ensure that the team meet all their targets and deadlines.Identify development needs within the teams and setting training plans to further develop individuals within the team.Monitor and manage team performance on both a collective and individual level.Deal with general team queries.Work with the regional finance teams as well as central global teams to ensure end to end processes are effective, deliver a positive experience for our colleagues, customers.Be global project management in delivering continuous improvement initiatives i.e., Blackline, Global VAT Reporting Tool (tax team project) - implementation and global roll out.Help with the system changes with regards to tax coding set up and review - Providing review with regards to system set up / change requests around tax coding, rate changes, new rates and new registrations.Help with the indirect tax registration management - with regards to new registrations and deregistration.Be the go-to support for indirect tax compliance - providing support during indirect tax related audits with tax authorities.Attend the Newcastle office leadership meetings when necessary.Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Qualified ACCA / CIMA.Leadership and motivation skills and experience for a global team.Deep knowledge of General ledger reconciliation and account management.Transactional processing experience e.g., journal entries, payment processing and cash allocation.Strong IT skills in Excel and accounting systems such as Oracle, JDE or other ERP Finance Systems.Awareness or experience of working in a Finance Shared Service Centre environment.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.Good analytical and problem-solving skills.Global Stakeholder management experience - strong customer service focus and good communications skillsAbout the client
