Location: York

Salary: GBP34,000 - GBP38,000

Basis: Permanent, Full-time (37 hours per week)

Reporting to the Gender Inclusion Lead this role is critical to ensuring more students and especially girls have an increased awareness of careers and further study in computing related fields and choose to study computer science at GCSE, A level, degree and beyond.

The Role

The Project Coordinator - Student Events will, through effective project management and by working with teams across and beyond the organisation, ensure that the National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE) delivers a comprehensive programme of student events. The NCCE's student events offer caters primarily to key stages 3, 4 and 5. Student events are vital to helping the NCCE achieve its aims to:

increase the digital pipeline through qualifications to employment through increased uptake of Computer Science GCSE, A level and computer science degrees improve computing skills/knowledge among young people entering higher education and employment, including increased attainment at GCSE and A level Computer Science improve pupil engagement with and attitudes towards computing to increase the number of girls choosing computer science at GCSE, A level and degree level. The Project Coordinator - Student Events will fulfil the following functions:

Coordination of the NCCE's student events offer - including events delivered by the Computing Hub network and a central offer - to produce a termly/annual calendar of student events. Support and promote collaboration between STEM Learning and external stakeholders such as industry and Higher education Institutions to host and deliver events. Drive efficiencies through working closely with the STEM Ambassador team to ensure computing ambassadors are embedded in student events. Work closely with the Computing Programme Manager to develop the forward strategy for Computing Ambassadors to inform termly planning processes and play a key role in generating engagement in the Computing Ambassador STEM Community Group. Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to ensure student events achieve a suitable level of publicity and visibility such as through PR, general communications and website presence. Development and continuous improvement of processes, guidance and documentation for student events, especially to ensure that statutory requirements are met regarding data, consent and safeguarding of event participants. Contribute to monthly reporting to ensure that the requirements to the programme funder are met. Conduct ad hoc analysis of data to inform planning. Utilise feedback for monitoring and improvement purposes, including identifying opportunities to showcase the impact of student events. Effective matrix management and coordination of external partners in line with programme requirements. This includes working closely with a variety of teams across STEM Learning and external partners, including those within the National STEM Learning Network. Being responsive and proactive in identifying risks and opportunities, working with relevant colleagues to agree appropriate mitigations and remediation actions to support effective operational delivery. Provide broad programme support to I Belong and Computing Clusters and organising annual Celebration events. Our Ideal Candidate

Education: Honours degree or equivalent plus relevant professional experience and qualifications.

Desired experience:

Demonstrable experience in a leadership and/or project management role including management of staff and customer relationship management. A successful and demonstrable track record in managing projects/events in a relevant environment to include end-end scoping, content development and evaluation. An understanding of the English education system and in particular careers education. Experience of data management and analysis, including its use to support business planning and reporting. Competencies:

Formal project management qualification and experience essential for the role. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including writing and delivering presentations, experience of writing concise, complex reports and other documents for internal and external use. Ability to adapt written and oral communication to a range of audiences. A proven ability to interact effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to influence others. An ability to work at pace to achieve tight deadlines and on own initiative. Excellent planning and organisational skills Personal Qualities:
