Programme Manager - Renewable Energy
Climate17 are working with a market leading renewable energy developer, who develop, build and operate new clean energy and storage projects in the UK.
They currently have a large pipeline of solar and battery storage sites across a large number of live projects and are actively evolving the business to develop new, green technologies.
They are looking add a Programme Manager to join their Senior Management Team as part of their in-house project development team. This is a full-time, permanent position.
The role is predominantly based in the client's central Cheltenham office, with the option to work from home for 3 days a week. Travel to the client's London office will be required when needed.

Role Responsibilities
Working closely alongside other senior-level programme managers within the project development team, responsible for guiding projects through the development lifecycle.
Line management responsibility for a project development team, including training of more junior members of the team on company process and procedures and project development team operations.
Act as a sounding board and point of escalation for more junior team members, assisting them to solve individual issues, escalating to the Executive Director where appropriate.
Professionally lead the delivery (via Project Managers and Senior Project Managers) of distribution and transmission connected projects from feasibility to ready-to-build status, followed by handover to the Construction team.
Manage the delivery (via the Project Managers and Senior Project Managers) of all real estate legal work (options, leases, purchases, easements, wayleaves, licences) with the support of internal and external legal staff.
Help guide the projects through the planning process alongside the Project Managers and the planning team & Planning Director.
Risk, timeline, and budget management including investment case financial modelling, obtaining sponsorship through board approvals.
Manage the consultancy relationship between the business and its external developer clients.
Overarching budget responsibility for the pipeline of projects.
Experience Needed
Strong experience in project management at a senior level in a similar industry, preferably but not necessarily solar and / or BESS. Programme management experience would be desirable but is not essential.
A proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget, managing inputs from a multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to develop plans with regards to project status, timeline, risk management, budget and performance with utmost clarity.
Excellent IT skills including Excel, project management software, Power BI. Data reporting would be an advantage.
Excellent communication skills, able to report to the board of directors and deal with high profile external parties.
Experience of taking options to lease and purchase, easements, and wayleaves through the legal process.
Clear understanding of the value of projects and how to value them using discounted cashflow methodology.
Understanding of and experience in dealing with distribution level and ideally, transmission level grid connections.
Ability to think strategically and laterally with an emphasis on commercial acumen.
