Description

Overview

This post gives an excellent opportunity to work in a small, friendly, busy office, in unusual and pleasant surroundings. Colleagues at Bishopthorpe Palace work as a small and close-knit team and support each other at busy periods with flexibility and good humour.

We Include. You Belong.

Our Belonging and Inclusion Strategy aims for everyone in the National Church Institutions (NCIs) to feel that they belong, and are valued for who they are and what they contribute. Together, our people contribute in different ways towards our common purpose, whichever NCI they work in and whatever their background.

Introduction

The Archbishop of York is seeking to appoint a Programme Manager to be responsible for co-ordinating delivery of the Archbishop's ministerial priority of Faith in the North, taking direct responsibility for supporting core workstreams and overseeing delivery on behalf of the steering group. The Programme Manager will ensure that key areas of work, both at Bishopthorpe Palace and more widely in the Province, are aligned with the project aims.

The successful candidate will have experience of strategic planning and delivering significant output within complex institutions. Educated to degree level or equivalent, they will have the ability to think strategically and act pragmatically, will be comfortable moving easily between strategic context and detailed practical planning and be able to operate in situations of ambiguity with resilience, passion and energy. An understanding of the organisational structure, breadth and dynamics of the Church of England will be necessary.

This role is offered on a 3 year fixed term contract and is based at Bishopthorpe Palace, Bishopthorpe, York with remote working by agreement. This post has scope for both office-based and flexible remote working arrangements. Normal hours of work are 21 hours per week (Monday to Friday). The salary will be prorated for the hours worked giving a salary of GBP37,820 per year (for 21 hours per week).

The closing date for applications is 3 January 2024 (midnight).

Interviews will be held on 15 January 2024.

A comprehensive and supportive induction programme will be put in place for the post holder to ensure that they have all the information, access and contacts required to quickly acclimatise and excel in this role.

We also invite interest from those with excellent experience in a number of areas that may not meet every criteria.

The Church of England is for everyone and we want to reflect the diversity of the community the Church serves across the whole country. Therefore, while of course we welcome all applications from interested and suitably experienced people, we would particularly welcome applicants from UK Minority Ethnic Backgrounds and other under-represented groups.

We offer a unique environment with opportunities for continuous learning, generous annual leave for work life balance, season ticket loans and a range of benefits including discounted entry to attractions and what we feel is a market leading package when it comes to our pension scheme.
