Job Specification: Product Technologist
Company Overview: A global, multichannel company comprising both retail and wholesale businesses. The company focuses on ensuring all imported stock into the UK complies with relevant EU and UK legislation, adheres to quality standards, and meets customer expectations.
Job Purpose: As a QC/QA Manager, the Product Technologist will oversee compliance procedures, ensuring imported products meet regulations, conducting assessments, and collaborating with various teams to mitigate risks.
Key responsibilities include:
Risk Management:
Collaborate with the Buying department to identify and address potential risks in New Product Development (NPD).Design strategies to minimize risks associated with product development. Product Conformity Assessments:
Create and organise conformity assessments to determine product testing requirements. Documentation and Testing:
Request, check, and file test reports and Bill of Materials (BOM) in Technical Files.Liaise with testing laboratories in the UK and Far East to ensure products pass relevant testing. Audit and Ethical Compliance:
Work closely with the Far East Office, suppliers, and auditors to compile and maintain factory ethical audits.Review Bill of Materials for substances of concern and report to the compliance manager. Artwork and Legal Compliance:
Review product and packaging artwork to ensure compliance with legal requirements.Ensure legal symbols and logos are included for each product. Documentation and Reporting:
Create and organise declarations of conformity.Assist with returns analysis, collaborating with the warehouse team to identify potential batch issues. Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with the NPD team to address areas of concern requiring commercial decisions.Collaborate with factories to confirm inclusion of all legal symbols and logos for each product. Deadline Management:
Work according to the critical path to ensure all deadlines are met.Stay aware of potential changes in testing regulations. Ad-Hoc Tasks and Departmental Cover:
Perform ad-hoc tasks as required.Provide departmental cover when necessary. Qualifications and Skills:
1+ years of experience in a QC/QA environment.Strong knowledge of EU and UK product safety legislation.Experience working in a retail business.Excellent time management and multitasking skills.High attention to detail and proactive work approach.Proficient in Microsoft Office.Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
