Hi, I’m Sophie, a friendly and highly experienced ESL teacher based in Exeter. Learning a language can be an emotional roller coaster and I take great pleasure in helping my learners to build their fluency and confidence. Whether you want to improve your English for travel, to pass that all important exam, boost your career or simply for life, I will teach you useful, practical English to help you achieve your ambitions.

My courses carefully balance the key skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, alongside grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. While I often use a top-quality course book as a base, I will supplement this with a variety of authentic materials including videos, TV programmes, newspaper and magazine articles, and pronunciation and fluency building activities.

On top of my CELTA qualification, I have a degree and MA in English and History and regularly take part in professional development courses conducted by industry leaders. I am based close to the City Centre and Exeter University’s Streatham campus and lessons can either take place at my lovely home or at yours; wherever you feel most comfortable.
