Job Title: Principal Street Lighting Engineer

Location: Merseyside, 3 Days per week on site / 2 Days remote

Contract: Initially 6-months (high possibility of extension)

Spencer Clarke Group are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Merseyside to appoint a Principal Street Lighting Engineer. Your responsibilities will include leading the management of the term maintenance street lighting contract, overseeing planning, design, implementation, and site supervision of street lighting projects.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Undertake planning, design, and site supervision of street lighting projects.Manage and monitor the existing street lighting term maintenance contract, including procurement requirements.Identify and agree on annual lighting maintenance programs and proposals.Assess and challenge lighting project proposals for continuous service delivery improvements.Deliver the street lighting service within the allocated budget (revenue and capital).Monitor and report progress to the Team Leader and senior managers/clients regarding timescales, cost, and quality.Develop systems for effective monitoring and control of the street lighting maintenance contract.Respond to developers on street lighting designs for Section 38 and 278 works. Qualifications/Experience Needed

Possess a formal qualification or degree in a relevant discipline or extensive experience within the specialism.Membership of a relevant institution.Management qualifications/formal management training.Thorough understanding of street lighting design and maintenance practices, policies, and relevant legislation.Experience in delivering street lighting Planned Maintenance, reactive maintenance, and improvement upgrades.NEC or similar Contract management experience.Site Supervision and Contractor Management.Wide knowledge and understanding of electrical regulations related to street lighting.Up-to-date knowledge of street lighting techniques.Experience with street lighting specifications and design packages (e.g., AutoCAD).Experience in managing street lighting projects delivered on time and to the allocated budget.
