Job Description
Summary
Hi! I am a working mum to my lovely three-year-old, who needs you to help me live my life to the fullest. I would describe myself as a positive and creative person and after a tough year I need your support to bring my sparkle back.
One of my favourite things about me is bringing people together, which I try to do all the time, even with my disabilities, like setting up a book club for mums to give us a night out! Spending time with family and friends is really important to me – and it is especially enjoyable creating little get togethers, using them to bring a little bit of joy and positivity to everyone’s life, from birthdays to bonfire night or even just after- pre-school hot chocolates!
As a newly single mum, my daughter is my absolute world. She would describe me as fun, imaginative, loving, giving and full of exciting stories.
My auto-immune condition means that I have restricted mobility, fatigue, and pain and brain fogging, so taking care of everything, I often feel overwhelmed, but hopefully with your practical help, positivity and enthusiasm combined with mine, I can start to feel like me again.
I struggle with housework and basic tasks; I can’t shop or get outside much because of my condition. I mainly need you to keep my home clean and tidy, and running smoothly and basics stocked up (like toilet rolls in the bathrooms).
It doesn’t matter whether you have previous experience, the qualities I look for are a willingness to learn, caring, sensitive, open-mindedness, organised, and can think on your feet.
A driver would benefit, but this is not essential.
Candidate qualities:
Reliable with good timekeeping
Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
Hygienic, tidy and well organised
Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
Honest and cheerful
Creative
Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
Must be comfortable with cats
Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
Other Personal Qualities:
Organised
Thoughtful
Sensitive
Willing to learn new skills
Employee Duties:
Moving and handling
Other relevant duties as required
Administration
Housekeeping
Cooking
Companionship
Personal care support
Additional duties:
All personal care can be completed independently most days, it is just having someone there to help in case something goes wrong (e.g. helping me, or getting my daughter, in and out of the bath)
Additional requirements
Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.
Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
*Exemption for gender is claimed under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9
