A carer / personal assistant supports their employer with a wide range of tasks, helping to increase their independence and make a real difference to their quality of life.

You’ll be working directly with a 37 year old male who has a complex C4 spinal cord injury, living in the Bishopton area. To help them with various aspects of their daily life. You’ll be employed directly by an individual who is managing and paying for their own care through Self Directed Support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Full personal care is required also adminstering of medication and supposotories if chosen for training.

Support with their social, medical and physical activities

Going to medical appointments, days out and meetings, subject to daily activities

Support with tasks around the house, such as shopping, cleaning and cooking;

Willingness to learn the job and undertake relevant training

Carry out any other reasonable duties required by the employer

Days/Nights and times:

Full time and Part time hours per week normally between Monday to Sunday. This will be on a flexible basis dependent on needs of both employer and employee as some emergency cover may be required. However, notice will be given.

Salary:

£10.90 per hour, in accordance with guidelines from the local authority.

Skills and Experience:

Must have a clean, current driving licence as some driving will be required

Well organised and reliable

Keep working relationship confidential, including the assistance provided

Discretion and integrity are paramount

Ability to work on your own initiative or under guidance

Must be open minded and comfortable as will be assisting with personal care as well as domestic and social tasks

Positive and passionate attitude

Excellent communication and people skills

Previous care work preferred as knowledge of moving and handling is paramount as employer is 6"3 Average 100kg.
