Hours/shifts: 4 hours per week term time & additional hours during the school holidays.

Summary
I am looking for a PA/companion for my 14 year old son who has Autism/ADHD/Learning Difficulties and Epilepsy
We require the PA to be a buddy and take our son out to activities he enjoys, for example trips on the train or bus, visiting the seaside/parks/playgrounds, going swimming or bowling.
He is independent and verbal but can display challenging behaviour, although if he is doing something he enjoys this is less likely to occur.
We are looking for someone who can form a friendship with him so that he is able to experience life outside of the home, more independently.
Other Requirements
Previous experience with children with special needs would be an advantage
Must be comfortable with pets
Non-smoker preferred or someone who is willing to refrain from smoking during work hours
Should ideally have a UK driving licence and access to own vehicle

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

Typical duties
Social:
Accompany the young person when accessing social and leisure activities
Driving and accompanying on trips out e.g. garden centres, cinemas, local visits, out shopping for fun
The above duties will involve driving the young person in the PA’s car or taking public transport
Whilst on duty at the employer’s home watching TV and playing computer games
Person specification
The successful applicant will be:
Previous experience with children with special needs is preferred
Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
Able to deal with challenging behaviour
Reliable with good timekeeping
Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
Honest and cheerful
Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
