Hours/shifts: 1 PA for 24.5 hours per week or 2 PAs for 12.25 hours per week. AM and PM calls ideal. Some flexibility available, times to be discussed at interview. Job share available.
Summary
Personal assistant (PA) required in South Croydon area for a lady with complex medical conditions. Hourly rate £10.42. Hours to be negotiated at interview stage but can vary depending on doctors/hospital appointments.
Potential candidates must be very empathetic, understanding and patient, with the ability to use their own initiative. A full driving licence and access to own vehicle is desirable.
Employment location is well accessed on bus and train routes and parking is available.
An ideal candidate would be fun loving, have a great sense of humour and share some laughs with me.

Description
Typical duties
Domestic:
Helping with laundry: loading and unloading the washing machine; hanging out to dry; ironing; putting away
Changing bed linen
Bed making
General cleaning
Taking out rubbish/recycling
General housework, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.
Assist with preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
Shopping
Tidying
Correspondence e.g. reading letters, help writing replies, form-filling, assisting with household
paperwork
Making phone calls on my behalf when I am too unwell to do this
Making tea for guests
Personal Care:
Assistance to get into/out of bed
Assistance to use the toilet
Assistance with showering or washing and drying
Assistance to apply moisturisers
General skin, hair, oral and nail care
Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, for example assisting to get
changed in swimming pool/gym.
Getting in and out of the wheelchair (‘transferring’)
Physiotherapy exercises
Social:
Accompanying employer to doctors/hospital appointments when required
Accompanying employer when accessing social and leisure activities, including to the gym, swimming pool, exercises classes etc.
Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips when required or putting away delivery of food
Accompanying when clothes-buying, including help with un/dressing and lifting clothes on/off the rails.
Lifting the folding wheelchair in/out of car.
Spending time with the employer, watching TV, talking, laughing etc
Accompanying on trips out e.g. to the library, meditation classes, yoga for people with
ME, to see family.
Driving and accompanying to social events such as:
Cinema
Church
Accompanying on trips out e.g. to the garden centre, beach, cinema, craft fairs, local visits, out
shopping for fun, attending social events, attending therapies and disability group
Accompanying to social meetings e.g. friends, family
Person specification
The successful applicant will be:
Female due to personal care required

Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
