My client, a growing and ambitious Life Insurer, is seeking a talented and experienced Pensions Solicitor to join their team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an in-house pensions lawyer to play a key role in developing their Bulk Purchase Annuity (BPA) business. In addition, there is the opportunity to take on wider corporate and commercial duties, making this a truly exciting and varied role. As a Pensions Solicitor, you will provide expert legal counsel on the development of the BPA business, ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements. Responsibilities: Provide expert legal counsel on the development of the BPA business and throughout the transaction process. Interpret and present complex legal considerations and material to stakeholders. Draft, edit, and review legal documentation and processes required for BPA transactions, including alterations to standard terms and BPA deal contracts. Support the BPA team and Executive Committee in managing third parties involved in the provision of services, including pension scheme trustees, administrators, and EBCs. Work closely with the Compliance team to ensure understanding of regulatory and legal requirements. Collaborate with the Company Secretary to provide support on day-to-day company legal matters. Manage relationships with external legal counsel and those assigned to act for third parties. Stay up to date with legislative changes and industry best practices relevant to the business. Maintain competence and fitness and propriety standards required by regulators.
Desired Skills: Strong knowledge of UK Defined Benefit Pensions and the BPA market. Excellent understanding of the BPA process, from deal execution to buy-out. Demonstrates commercial acumen in legal decision-making. Excellent attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build productive relationships at all levels, both internally and externally. Strong presentation and negotiation skills. Proactive, pragmatic, adaptable, and flexible in approach.
Experience and Qualifications:
Mandatory: Minimum two years' post-qualified experience, either in-house or in practice. Good knowledge and experience of life assurance and pensions business. Knowledge of defined benefit liability management/de-risking work. Experience working in the BPA sector is desirable.

The position of Pensions Solicitor is offered with a salary up to GBP95,000 + bonus and hybrid from their Aylesbury offices.
