Hays Education is working with a leading therapeutic SEND residential and day school for boys and girls aged 8-18 with social, emotional, and mental health needs, and autism. We follow the principles of the Therapeutic Community model, which aims to create a safe and nurturing environment where our students can develop their academic, social, and emotional skills, as well as their self-esteem and confidence.
As a PE Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, teaching, and assessing the PE curriculum for our students, in line with the national standards and the school’s policies and procedures. You will also work collaboratively with the other teachers, the SEND coordinator, the residential staff, and the therapists to ensure the integration and coordination of care and learning for our students. You will be involved in organising and leading various sports and fitness activities, both within and outside the school, that cater to the needs and interests of our students. You will also be expected to participate in the school’s events and training programmes, and to contribute to the school’s ethos and values.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
A relevant degree in PE, sports science, or a related field, or equivalent qualification.A recognised teaching qualification, such as QTS, PGCE, or QTLS.A good understanding of the needs and challenges of children and young people with SEND, especially those with social, emotional, and mental health needs or autism.A positive and enthusiastic attitude, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.A creative and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to different situations and learners.A commitment to continuous professional development and learning.A willingness to work within the school’s policies and procedures, and to uphold the school’s vision and mission.
