Role: Payroll Officer
Location: Northeast Derbyshire, Chesterfield
Duration: 2-year FTC
Salary: up to 25,000 dependant on experience
Sellick Partnership are currently recruiting for a Payroll Officer to join our reputable public sector organisation based in Northeast Derbyshire. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively provide an efficient, accurate and timely payroll service
The duties of the Payroll Officer include:
Assist with performing all duties relating to the payment of salaries, and allowances including statutory and occupational pay scheme, allowances, and related deductionsMaintain all necessary recordsSupport the manager to ensure that payroll production deadlines are achieved and the appropriate checking procedures are carried out to ensure the quality and accuracy of the payroll and all entries are accounted forAssist with the completion of organisational and statistical returns relating to payroll informationAssist with the production of management reports and budgetary control information relating to employee costs and statutory deductions as requiredSupport the development and maintenance of the HR and Payroll system, ensuring it is fit for purposeSupport with the development and implementation of payroll procedures, processes, management information systemsWork with the manager to provide a co-ordinated payroll service and ensure accountancy, financial control and financial information requirements are metRespond to pay related queries from employees, and managers
The Payroll Officer ideally should have:
Experience within the public sectorKnowledge of current HMRC and National Insurance legislationKnowledge of budget monitoringExperience of working with the CHRIS HR/Payroll systemExperience in a similar role with detailed knowledge of payroll proceduresExperience of producing financial reports
The Payroll Officer will need to have excellent communication skills and effectively be able to communicate to stakeholders of all levels. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will have an impeccable eye for detail and accuracy to ensure all workload is carried out effectively and efficiently. They will also need to able to prioritise their workload and be efficient and effective to meet unpredictable deadlines and deal with conflicting demands, whilst working in a high-pressured environment.
