Cranleigh STEM is working with a market leader that develops unique chemicals for construction and building products, we are looking for an experienced Paint Chemist to join their R&D team in Horsham, West Sussex.
You will play a key role by introducing and developing new paints and coatings formulations to broaden the business' product range, you will also be responsible for leading NPD projects from the initial idea through to implementation in production.
To be considered you should hold a degree in chemistry or a closely related discipline and possess proven experience in developing and formulating paints and coatings.

Responsibilities:
Formulation Development: Design and develop formulations to produce paint and coating recipes.Testing: Devise and implement laboratory testing programs to evaluate and optimise paint and coating performance. This may involve working with third party testing laboratories such as the PRA, TRADA or BBAScale-Up: Manage the scale-up of manufacturing processes from laboratory and pilot plant to full-scale production.R&D: Stay updated with advancements in paint and coating chemistry by attending appropriate conferences and exhibitions.Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all processes and packaging operations.Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and improve process and packaging efficiency.Environmental Sustainability: Where apt, develop environmentally sustainable recipes and processes. Requirements:
Degree in chemistry or a related scientific subject.Experience in the development of paint and coatings.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to lead projects and manage teams effectively.Strong oral and written communication skills.Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices in paint making.Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage at all levels.Results-oriented with a focus on efficiency, quality, and safety.
