Your new companyYou will be working for HMP Bullingdon, located in Bicester, as an OSG Escort. HMP Bullingdon is a local prison holding remand and sentenced prisoners. It is a category B men's prison and has a capacity of 1,000 inmates.Your new roleYour role of an OSG- Security officer will be to carry out security and support practices for operational purposes throughout the prison establishment. Responsibilities will include working on the prison gate, welcoming and checking-in visitors, escorting people around the premises and general assistance and administration throughout the day. You will also carry out vehicle checks and monitor CCTV. You will also be required to assist with the new enhanced gate security check including body checks/ scanning etc Although you will not be required to manage and maintain prisoners, you will see them on site.Other duties include:- Escorting contractors & vehicles- Checking & searching visitors- Radio handling- Supervision of visitors- Stores duties- Patrolling perimeter and grounds- Routine administrative work- Contractor tool checks- Searching buildings- Canteen and kit exchange duties- Health & Safety procedures- Radio operationThe shift pattern involves working every other weekend, completing one week of nights once every 6 weeks, followed by a rest week. This is a full-time position, only candidates who drive and have a vehicle will be considered, due to the nature of the shifts.- Standard, working hours: GBP14.31 p/h (inclusive of holiday) - Weekday overtime: GBP21.59 p/h (inclusive of holiday) - Weekend overtime: GBP26.60 p/h (inclusive of holiday) What you'll need to succeedYou will not require previous experience as you will receive full-on-job training. You will need to be a strong communicator, level-headed and security conscious. You will be able to work well in a team and have excellent interpersonal skills. You will be required to provide 2 satisfactory references, one from your most recent employer, and will be subject to full SSCL prison clearance.What you'll get in returnThis is a perfect introduction to the prison service and could well lead to permanent employment with the National Offender Management Service as an OSG or Prison Officer.
