Exciting new position as the nursery cook, providing 3 nutritious and healthy meals a day to 36 children aged 1- 5 years old. The meals will comprise of breakfast, lunch, and tea. The successful candidate will be in charge of their own kitchen and have licence to create their own menus that adhere to a child's healthy diet using organic and free range ingredients. The succesful candidate will also need to be able to communicate well with young children and the role will include cooking activities with the children and trips to local shops. The successful candidate must have an open personality and be prepared to work alongside a happy and hardworking team.
Key Responsibilities
To run, clean and maintain the school kitchen to a high standard including regular hygiene checks and fridge temperature checks
To cook and prepare five meals a day in accordance to the school timetable
To keep control of stock and order and provide a weekly shopping list to budget
To provide weekly cooking activities with the children
To be involved in menu planning with the manager
To ensure that children with dietary requirements are catered for appropriately
To have due regard for the under 5’s healthy eating guide lines
To be responsible for hygiene and risk assessment within the kitchen. To have a good work ethic and be able to work with others
Key Requirements
Have previous experience of working as a Cook or a Chef (required)
Hold a Level 2/3 in Food Hygiene or equivalent or be willing to undertake same. (required)
Nursery/School experience (desirable)
Safeguarding level 2 (desirable)
An enhanced DBS ‘Disclosure and Barring Service’ check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children’s and Adults’ Barred List checks will be required for this role.
