Banner Lane has been retained by a specialist high-tech electronics company to recruit an NPI Test Development Engineer.
Our client specialises in bespoke Radio Frequency (RF) systems and products for a variety of military, government and commercial applications. As an NPI Test Development Engineer you will work with government and military customers to supply fully customisable RF Systems for Signals Intelligence and Communications Intelligence purposes. The product portfolio also extends to Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED) and Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) defeat systems.
The position will have comprehensive responsibilities encompassing all dimensions of automated production test development. This will range from software module coding and test sequencing to the physical design and fabrication of jigs.
Your primary duty will be to ensure successful integration of new testing capabilities into the manufacturing environment. This involves close cooperation with our engineering team during product development phases, making informed contributions to design decisions and facilitating a smooth transition into the manufacturing stage.
The day-to-day responsibilities of the role are as follows:
You will be required to design and deliver automated manufacturing test facilities for new product developments. Your duties will extend to generating controlled documentation, specifically for test procedures, configurations, and code. The role will also include the production and maintenance of test fixtures and test equipment. You will be expected to enhance existing manufacturing facilities with the goal of optimizing the effectiveness of the test process flow. Conducting statistical evaluation and trend analysis of test results to guide process improvement will be among your responsibilities. Your expertise will be required in advising product development engineers on design for testability features of new products. Attendance and contribution at new product design reviews will be part of your role. As new product families are introduced, you will develop and implement new testing methodologies. Prior to the delivery of larger communication systems, your support will be essential in system acceptance testing. Necessary qualifications for the candidate to possess include:
An Honours degree or its equivalent in a pertinent field of engineering. Demonstrable experience in testing electronic subsystems within a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in test code development and sequencing utilizing scripting tools, such as LabVIEW and Teststand. Adept written and oral communication skills are of the utmost importance. Previous experience in the development of automated test rigs for RF circuits and optical telecommunications systems. An understanding of software and firmware version control, as well as release management. Familiarity with engineering quality management processes.
