Non-Destructive Weld Testing
Salary: Technician Level MPI/DPI circa £26,000. Experienced: Circa £40,000 with UT, PAUT, Rope access, ECITB Safety Passport, CSCS Card, Working at height and Confined space training BA. Benefits of flexible working + company expenses card.
Kent Office, ME10 (Travel required throughout the UK with an expected 2 nights away per week/additional hours paid where this is required).
Full time + overtime available – weekends/evenings paid time and half.
Job Description:
Our Client, S.T & W Inspections, a leading provider of non-destructive weld testing services, are looking for a skilled NDT Technician to join their team. Based in Kent, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in conducting MPI, DPI, and UT inspections at designated sites across the UK. This is a niche role that requires specific skills and they are looking for a candidate who is willing to undergo additional training and certifications as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform MPI, DPI, UT & PAUT inspections at designated sites across the UK, with an expected 2 nights away per week.Compile detailed and professional reports after each inspection, collaborating with the technical administrator.Engage in ongoing training with PCN, including but not limited to health and safety certifications (Confined space, ECITB, CSCS) and progress to IRATA L2 as required.Take personal responsibility for the maintenance and condition of issued equipment, notifying management of any issues.Effectively communicate across the company, identifying opportunities for improvement and assisting with the company UKAS ISO9001 accreditation though active engagement.Notify management of any Health & Safety issues present on site or in the office.Uphold personal health and safety on site, refusing to conduct unsafe inspections and providing feedback to management.Assist Directors, NDT Manager, and Admin Staff as required in other areas of the business.

Skills required
Must hold a PCN Level 2 in MPI & preferably DPI and work within a non-destructive testing environmentExperience of magnetic particle inspection, dye penetrant inspection, ultrasonic testing and visual inspection in both new welds and in-service inspections.Ideally experience of working with pressure equipment.The ability to use own initiative while working on site and maintain the highest level of health and safety awareness at all times.Good communication and report writing skills.A proactive, flexible and adaptable approach.The opportunity to progress into various positions within the business, including management, technical specialist and other senior positions.The ability to organise own working day unsupervised and meet different clients on a daily basis.Flexible and adaptable to changes at short notice.Hardworking, accurate and detail-oriented.Has a basic understanding of physics and maths; basic PCNs preferred.Ideally possesses at least MPI & DPI qualifications; further NDT training can be provided.A quick learner willing to work away from home.Willing to start early (sometimes as early as 5am) and be on-site for 8am.Willing to go the extra mile for flexibility in return.
