The Nature Recovery Evidence Manager will oversee and manage the Trust's data collection and evidence systems to ensure we are an evidence-led organisation, able to continuously improve our delivery and demonstrate our strategic impact for nature's recovery.
The Nature Recovery Evidence Manager will work across the Trust, to support teams to develop evaluation, monitoring and data collection that contributes to our strategy.
Overview
Across the conservation movement there is a focus on ensuring that our conservation work is based on evidence so that our management of reserves, and other sites, provide the greatest benefit for wildlife.
For each of our nature reserves we target certain attributes specific to the reserve i.e. bird & insect species richness, woodland/meadow/vegetation condition, ancient woodland indicators, heathland etc.
We also collaborate with other organisations and groups on establishing monitoring protocols to allow them to be able to monitor ecological features at their site over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the work of the Data and Evidence Team, to ensure the Trust has robust systems in place to develop and apply our evidence base and monitoring systems in support of the delivery of our Strategy 2030.
- Contribute to the strategic work of the Trust, applying evidence and data analysis to inform priorities and development plans, especially in relation to our own Nature Recovery Strategy. Support Exec and Outcome Groups to ensure they review data and evidence to inform, improve and prioritise their work to meet our Strategy 2030.
- Oversee the Trust's strategic indicators, maintaining methodologies and providing analysis and reports as and when required.
- Work with the CEO of SRWT to support and enable the SY LNP to develop the South Yorkshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy, drawing on best practice, current data, mapping and information as well as other Local Nature Recovery Strategies.
- Work across all teams at the Trust, championing the need for evidence, surveying and evaluation to continuously improve our practice and monitor progress towards our strategy.
- Manage and develop the Trust's evidence and data collection systems, working with IT/Support Services, to ensure they are documented, sustainable and user friendly for staff and volunteers.
- Evaluate and analyse data and evidence to ensure it is applied appropriately, for example: within the relevant data licence; highlighting limitations and assumptions; or applying statistical data tests to ensure robustness of data sets
- Support and train staff and volunteers, both within the Trust and the wider Wildlife Trust movement, to develop their evidence and data collection systems and application.
