On the Surface: This 1968 Morris Minor 1000 Traveller is a absolutely fantastic example, finished in Old English White with a fully replaced and varnished ash wood frame. The owner has spared no expense in restoring this 'Moggy' to its current magnificent state, transforming it from a solid yet in-need-of-TLC vehicle to a stellar example.

Maintenance: This Traveller comes from devoted Vendor, having owned this car since April 2014, considerable care and attention has been set on it's restoration and upkeep. Extensive records showcase a thorough history, encompassing everything from maintenance invoices to restoration expenses. Notably, invoices from 'Woodie's Classic Car Services' in Lavant, West Sussex, spanning from 2017 to 2020, alone amount to nearly £8,500, underscoring the level of its restoration. The comprehensive file also boasts a trove of historical artifacts, including buff and green logbooks, tax discs dating back to 1969, and a wealth of visual documentation capturing the journey from its original state to its current splendor.

History: This Morris Minor 1000 Traveller boasts an illustrious past, previously owned by Sir Ray Tindle, the man behind the Tindle Group of regional newspapers and radio stations. The history file has a wealth of provenance, featuring letters from Sir Tindle's office, old write-ups about the car, and a dedicated segment including details of his ownership. The comprehensive file also boasts the buff and green logbooks, tax discs dating back to 1969, and a wealth of invoices from 1969 to date for servicing, maintenance, MOT's, parts, labour and general upkeep amounting to over £20,000. Additionally, the file houses an array of period-related and 'Moggy' related booklets, from original and replica Minor 1000 Driver's handbooks to a Morris 1000 brochure and even some Green Shield stamp books offering a captivating glimpse into the car's era.

The Model: Introduced in 1952, the Traveller model of the Morris Minor is notable for its external structural ash wood frame. This model features distinctive side-hinged rear doors and a varnished frame, distinguishing it within the Morris lineup. Traveller Minor's were built alongside the saloon's at the Cowley Factory minus their rear bodies. The half-completed cars were then shipped to the MG factory at Abingdon where the bodies which were built in Coventry, would be mated to the chassis and the final assembly was carried out. This was because the main Cowley production lines were not fully equipped to deal with body-on-frame vehicles such as the Traveller while the MG lines still handled these sorts of cars and had experience working with wood-framed bodies.

Sale Insight: Regrettably, The Vendor has decided to bid farewell to this Morris Minor 1000 Traveller, opting to focus more on his Bugatti Type 35B racecar and embark on a new automotive challenge-a pre-war Austin. As a result, this impeccably maintained and historically rich Traveller seeks a new owner who can appreciate it and continue its legacy on the road.
