Large vintage model biplane made completely of recycled scrap material: metal, wood, wire, bottle tops. Approximately 27 cm long by 24 cm wide by 13 cm high. Unusual scrap material art, very quirky. The two front wheels turn and the tail wheel turns, but the propeller doesn’t. The propeller boss is a bottle top, the front wheel hubs are bottle tops and the tail wheel is made of two bottle tops. The rear hollow fuselage is metal and the front fuselage is solid wood. The tail fin is wood, and the tailplanes are metal. Most of the fastenings are wire and nails.
The model is painted a dull brown and green with a deliberately distressed effect which is perfect for the materials. It is all solidly made with no loose parts and no flaws that I can see. A great ornament for anyone who likes aeroplanes and an interesting, unusual addition to a collection.
