This very unusual piece is a vintage Chinese carved Rosewood writing desk.
This was bought nearly sixty years ago in Hong Kong but was made around 1950 from solid Chinese Rosewood and brought back to the UK by my parents in a storage container when they left to start their new life and has stayed in my mother's possession until her sudden passing mid November.
The desk consists of two slightly smaller drawers one either side above a larger drawer also each side. There is one longer central drawer. The drawers do not have runners or plinths, they were made to simply slot in so tend to need putting in straight.
The legs are long Ming style. The drawer pulls are carved Chinese symbols representing longevity.
The desk has been very well loved for nearly 60 years by my mother but now has signs of wear to the varnish and finish as it was used as a functioning desk for a very long time then neglected over recent years so may need some care to get it looking it's best but could easily have a further 60 years in it.
I have seen only one identical desk online selling for over £1,770 and very similar ones on antique and vintage sites that have been selling for up to £2000.
Massive reduction from original asking price as literally have a few days at the most to re-home it.
Sensible and respectful offers considered.
