For sale is my unique Final Edition SL320, which has added features such as nappa leather, illuminated sill trims, special embossed dash trim, burl wood components, milled aluminium cluster (including black background and white dials) and gear surround, anniverary split wheels, polished steel exhaust and much more.
It also benefits from having just 55,300 miles but this will gradually go up as I am currently daily driving it. In terms of the drive, there are no knocks or bangs and it pulls nicely and stops. It could do with a good service however.
The main reason why it's priced at £7,950 is because it requires TLC and it was recorded as a Cat D in 2007.
To give you an idea of all the things that need some work (that I know of) include:
• Fuel gauge only reads 1/4 tank (fuel sender needs a clean/replacing - Tested the gauges and they all work perfectly on STAR machine - see second last photo for the posistion the fuel gauge stays at)
• Wooden trim near glove box has come apart - I was going to replace this with a black one to match the glove box (part cost £100-150)
• Rust spot below rear left tail light (as pictured), front wing has a small rust bubble (as pictured) and the bonnet has a bit of paint fade (as pictured). The rear bumper could do with some attention and the pano roof has some rust bubbles in the common areas (sounds worse than it is but just trying to be honest to avoid disappointment)
• Wheels could do with a refurb
• Central locking works on the key (indicators go off) but need to unlock with key (maybe vacuum issue)
• Ariel stuck - radio works fine (replacement can be bought for less than £100)
---------------------------
To conclude, this R129 would make a great winter project and it's far too good to break. If I didn't already have an SL500 that's AMG kitted out, I would've kept it and brought it back to pristine condition.
In terms of the pricing, i've based it on what it would easily and quickly break for. For example,
• Panoramic roof - £2,000
• Wheels - £1,000 - 1,500
• Soft Top module - £500
• Roof - £300 - 500
• Leather interior - £1,000 - 2,000
• Chrome trim (cluster and surround) - £1,000+
• Door cards - £500 - 750
• Steering wheell - £500+
The list really does go on and it would probably be far more profitable and easier to break it and keep some spares for myself too. However, it's far to good to break and as mentioned above, I am really enjoying daily driving it at the minute. The main reason for the sale is that I have far too many projects and fancy a M156 engined AMG as a daily driver.
