As an experienced materials chemist with a background in inks and coatings you would join a global R&D teams to work with a wide range of innovative and sustainable inks and coatings solutions for packaging in a technical focused role (no man management at this stage).
As an experienced technically focused materials project manager you would be part of the Material Development team, reporting to the Programme Manager. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining material specifications and managing qualifications for inks and coatings materials. As a materials chemist you would focus on managing R&D material projects to guarantee operations and sourcing strategies on materials.
Key Responsibilities
Technical leadership the of materials developments, specifications, and qualifications: Key R&D contact for Inks and Coating qualifications. Nurture close collaboration with material suppliers. Design and execute trials and testing plans to develop and qualify materials according to protocols. Attend material application and manufacturing trials. Test samples, interpret data, write reports with clear conclusions and recommendations. Create and deliver internal and external presentations to update on project progress. Liaise with the materials database manager to ensure all materials records are completed according to current protocols. Write Material technical briefs for new developments and define technical specifications for commercially qualified products. Develop new testing methods to analyse the performance of packaging materials. Support on-going improvement in materials performance through hands-on technical support: Provide support for failure investigations of materials. Liaise with the Packaging Performance team in support of the validation stage of material qualifications. Attend to supplier and customer audits when required.
Qualifications / Experience
Degree BSc/BEng/MChem/MSci), Material Science or Engineering. Practical experience in the Inks and Coatings industry. Knowledge Inks and Coatings, material properties, material test methods. Understanding of Radiation and Conventional curing methods Excellent oral and written presentation skills Experience of working within a laboratory Able to successfully manage multiple projects with competing demands on resources. Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all employees and external stakeholders at all levels Desirable - Experience working within a packaging industry, material development, inks and coating R&D environment. Knowledge of other substrates
Salary dependent on experience Bonus: 15% Holiday: 25 days Pension: Employer 9% contribution
