Overall objective;
To fully embrace the Company ethos and brand and to develop and implement a sales and marketing strategy that will drive performance and growth across all areas of a unique 3rd generation business; to manage and develop the on site Sales and Marketing team which comprises of a Marketing & Sales Manager, Sales & Merchandising Manager, Social Media & Digital Executive and Sales Ambassador (events).
Main Tasks of the job:
Through expertise, knowledge and understanding research, implement, develop, and manage a sales, marketing and PR strategy;
Responsible for the management, direction, and co-ordination of the Sales & Marketing team;
Effectively manage the efficient day to day operation and staffing of the department;
Develop and maintain a consistent brand image, build brand awareness and protect registered trademark;
Main point of contact and represent the business in the media;
Create and maintain sales and marketing budgets alongside Finance;
Establish and nurture partnerships and collaborations to increase brand awareness and sales;
Identify and develop new sales and marketing opportunities;
Work closely with the Operations Manager on R&D to increase other sales opportunities;
Create and maintain a formal customer service strategy;
Develop, maintain and build upon the company’s CRM;
Liaise and work closely with external providers;
Create and maintain effective internal marketing communications;
Co-ordinate the liaison between all other areas of the business;
Develop, implement, and manage sales and marketing objectives, targets, and performance to meet strategic objectives.
To react to sudden changes in any operational activity impacted by outside ‘Act of God’ events;
Communicate weekly with the Creative Director about the department’s objectives, implementation and achievements;
Monitor, review and analyse the sales and marketing goals and prepare a monthly report for the Directors;
Direct and nurture staff, evaluate performance and further develop individuals within the team;
Co-ordinate with HR on staff welfare, hiring and training;
Create and build relationships within the food industry/local economy/tourism sector and represent the business;
Attend business events that benefit sales and marketing objectives;
To cover all sales and marketing activity when other members of the team are unavailable;
Any other tasks relevant to the position as instructed by either of the Directors.

The successful candidate should be personable, highly motivated, energetic, dynamic, passionate about food and artisan producers as well as the tourism industry in the Lake District.
They MUST also have the following:
A qualification in marketing and/or membership of a relevant professional organisation;
At least five years experience in a similar role in FMCG and within the food industry;
A proven track record of success;
Experience of successfully managing, motivating and developing people;
Strong analytical, organisational, and creative skills;
A comprehensive understanding of all social media channels and its integral role in the marketing mix;
An appreciation of the role that events play within a business structure;
Sales experience in to B2B, B2C and ecommerce;
Exceptional communication, interpersonal and customer service skills both verbal and written;
Fully competent in IT skills across many packages/disciplines;
Attention to detail and a creative eye.
This is a full-time position but part-time hours will be considered (25 hours or more each week). This role is site-based in Grasmere, Cumbria.
