We are excited to present an exceptional opportunity for a Director of Marketing and Communications to join an outstanding independent publisher specialising in highly illustrated trade books. In this role, you will lead a dynamic team of fourteen professionals, overseeing all aspects of consumer marketing and publicity.
Directly reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, your primary responsibilities will include developing and implementing effective marketing strategies, fostering online communities, managing internal and external communications, and ensuring consistent brand representation across global subsidiaries. Your leadership will be instrumental in creating and executing a comprehensive marketing and communications initiative aligned with the company's objectives. This involves integrating key marketing components into the long-term strategic plan, shaping annual marketing plans, managing budgets, and conducting thorough market research. Additionally, you will actively engage with target audiences both online and offline, building strong connections within the community.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate marketing and branding activities across international subsidiaries.Manage both internal and external corporate communications.Collaborate with the CEO and Finance department on budgets.Evaluate title performance and oversee the creation of marketing assets.Lead and manage the marketing and publicity team, providing clear objectives and development opportunities.Attend key meetings and oversee title campaigns across the publishing program.Provide input on title formulations, cover design, and marketing plans.
The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in marketing, communications, and public relations. Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms is essential, along with strong leadership, multitasking, and deadline management skills. The candidate must demonstrate proven experience in leading marketing teams and have a track record in budget management. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are a must. In terms of personal attributes, the candidate should be proactive, energetic, and focused, with a strong creative flair and interest in the visual arts.
