As part of the SSN AUKUS journey, three Manufacturing Engineer (ME) positions are now available within the Engineering Producibility Team - CRDMs & Core Furniture. SSN AUKUS is creating some once in a generation opportunities within Primary Components Operations and as a ME you will have the exciting opportunity to influence CRDM component design & methods.
In parallel, you will develop and broaden your skillset, driving new product introduction and continuous improvement. You will also be responsible for implementing world class processes which meet business and customer requirements for Safety, Quality, Cost & Delivery and set the standard for the next generation of submarines design.

What you will be doing:
With this exciting opportunity you will get a chance to be involved with the following:
Generating the technical package for the shop floor for the manufacture of the new SSN AUKUS Design. This will include Technical Instructions, Manufacturing Stage Drawings, Production Routers, etc.Introduction of New Product to Primary Components via the use of Build in Quality tools such as Process Maps, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEAs), and Control Plans.Match the designs to manufacturing capability and work with the Future Capability Acquisition team to increase capability where gaps are identified.Control and reduce costs to drive profitability in the factory by continuously challenging the methods of manufacture and Design Definition.

To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria:
The successful candidate shall have as a minimum UKHND/foundation degree qualified or another national equivalent or have the requisite technical experience. They shall possess a detailed understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to the business i.e. Machining, Welding, NDE, Fabrication & Assembly and Metrology as well as Engineering processes relevant to their role i.e. DfM.It is desirable for the successful candidate to possess a general awareness of Manufacturing Systems (i.e. NX, Teamcentre, CAPP, SAP) relevant to the business. Awareness of the current product family is desirable i.e. Dreadnought CRDMs, it is also desirable for the candidate to be an ME stamp holder.National or international engineering accreditation (e.g. UK IEng or CEng) is also desirable.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don't currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
